Vulnerability
Sometimes when people come into our studio to paint for the first time ever, or the first time in a long time – they feel vulnerable – afraid they will not do a good job. Feeling vulnerable is actually a great “muscle” for us to exercise. Here is why…
There is nothing that instills trust and loyalty more then when a leader, business owner, parent or manager models vulnerability. It is hard to do and counterintuitive because most people shy away from vulnerability. But when a leader is unwilling to say “I’m sorry, or unwilling to admit their mistakes, or unwilling to recognize that there are people on the team who are actually more stilled then they are in some areas – trust begins to break down. Vulnerability builds trust and when you have a team that is built around honest vulnerability and trust – great things begin to happen.
